Hemorrhoids: Prevent the Pain, Live the Life

Hemorrhoids are a common ailment, especially in tropical regions.

Hemorrhoids refer to swollen blood vessels in or around the anus. They are often referred to as piles.

There are two main types: 1. External hemorrhoids, 2. Internal hemorrhoids.

External hemorrhoids are located outside the anus, between the skin and the mucous membrane. They often appear as swollen, blood-filled lumps around the anus. These typically occur in the lower third of the anal canal and cause pain but less bleeding.

Internal hemorrhoids are located inside the anus, within the mucous membrane. They are caused by dilated blood vessels, often due to congestion in the anal area.

Causes of hemorrhoids:

1.Constipation: Chronic constipation can lead to increased pressure on the blood vessels, causing them to rupture and bleed.

2.Poor blood flow: Conditions like liver disease, heart disease, and prolonged sitting can reduce blood flow to the anal area, leading to congestion and hemorrhoids.

3.Pregnancy: During pregnancy, the growing uterus can compress blood vessels, causing hemorrhoids.

4.Lifestyles factors: Prolonged sitting, standing, or straining during bowel movements can contribute to hemorrhoids.

Symptoms:

Bleeding during bowel movements

Pain and itching around the anus

Prolapsed hemorrhoids (hanging outside the anus)

Siddha Concepts for Hemorrhoids

Dosha Imbalance:

hemorrhoids are primarily caused by an imbalance of Vata and Pitta doshas. Vatha, associated with air and space, can lead to dryness and constipation, while Pittha, associated with fire and water, can cause inflammation and burning.

Agni Imbalance: An imbalance in digestive fire (Agni) is also considered a contributing factor. Poor digestion can lead to constipation and increased pressure on the veins in the anal region.
