One afternoon, Lilly was walking along a quiet road. The sun was hot and the day felt long. As she walked, she noticed a small dog nearby. The dog looked very thirsty and tired.
Lilly stopped and watched for a moment.
The dog slowly walked toward a small bowl of water that someone had left near a house. It carefully lowered its head and started drinking the water. The way it drank showed how thirsty it had been for a long time.
After drinking, the dog lifted its head and looked around. For a moment, it seemed thankful and calm.
Lilly felt something in his heart. She thought about how animals depend on the kindness of humans. A small bowl of water had made a big difference to that dog.
Later that day, Lilly told her friend Tina about what she had seen.
Her friend asked,
“Why did such a small thing make you think so much?”
Lilly replied, Because gratitude does not always come from big things. Even a small act of kindness can save a life.”
The friend listened carefully. Lilly continued, “Sometimes we forget that animals also feel hunger, thirst, and pain. When we show kindness to them, we show kindness to life itself.”
From that day, Tina decided to always keep a small bowl of water outside her house for birds and animals. And every day, different animals and birds came to drink.
She realized that helping others, even in small ways, brings peace to our hearts.
Moral of the Story
