Every year, New Year brings happiness, hope, and new beginnings. But sometimes, the true meaning of the New Year is not just celebration and it is about kindness and helping others.
New Year morning, Lilly woke up very early. She was excited because it was a special day. Her family planned to celebrate the New Year happily.
Lilly’s mother had prepared delicious food at home. The house smelled wonderful. Everyone was smiling and wishing each other “Happy New Year.
After breakfast, Lilly went outside to play.
While walking down the street, she saw an old man sitting quietly near the road.
He looked tired and hungry. People were walking past him, but no one stopped to help.
Lilly felt sad when she saw the old man.
She thought, “Today is New Year. Everyone should feel happy. She quickly ran back to our home.
Mom, there is an old man outside. He looks very hungry and very weak. Can we give him some food? Her mother smiled and said,
Helping someone is the best way to start a New Year. She packed some food and gave it to Lilly.
Lilly happily ran outside and gave the food to the old man.
The old man was surprised. His eyes filled with tears.
“Thank you, my child, he said softly. “May this New Year bring you lots of happiness.”
Lilly felt something warm in his heart. She realized that making someone smile was the best celebration.
That day, Lilly learned some important lessons.
A New Year is not just about fireworks and celebrations. It is about kindness, sharing, and caring for others.
Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord.”
